Tarkan Tevetoglu was released from detention yesterday after being arrested on 26 February and charged with using illicit drugs. Tarkan was released along with two other individuals.
Tarkan Tevetoglu was born on 17 October 1972 in Alzey, Germany and raised in Turkey. Popularly known as Tarkan, he is a World Music award winning singer. Known for the use of sexual and romantic themes in his work, he has been nicknamed the Prince of Pop by the media.
He has released several platinum-selling albums during his career, with an estimated 19 million albums sold. Tarkan also produces music through his company HITT Music, which he established in February 1997. One of a few European singers that have managed to enjoy chart success in three continents without singing in English, the artist is also noted for his live stage performances.
