Oludeniz Beach Fethiye
The Beaches of Oludeniz and Calis. Possibly the biggest draw around Fethiye is Turkey’s most famous stretch of sand at the azure-blue lagoon of Oludeniz. About seven miles outside of Fethiye, it is one of the most popular images of Turkish tourism. There is a small charge to get onto the beach, and local buses stop here frequently.
About three miles the other side of Fethiye, and nearer town than Oludeniz, is Calis beach. It’s not quite as picture-perfect as Oludeniz, but it can be quieter, and the sea is just as warm. To indulge in a mix of beach-bumming and history then the ancient Lycian city of Patara sits on the edge of eleven miles of white-sand beach around 35 minutes from Fethiye by bus or car. An important port city from late antiquity until Roman times, the ruins are currently being excavated revealing more of the site.
